Flights

Check your flights with Forbes Czech Startup of 2017 from Brno: KIWI.com.

• Brno Airport (BRN) has direct flights from some destinations (London, Milan with RyanAir).
• Vienna Airport (VIE) is the best option. Take a direct bus from the Vienna airport to Brno city center. Look for connections between "Vienna Schwechat Flughafen (Airport)" and "Brno Hotel Grand". The journey is around 2.5 hrs. If you miss the bus, take a train to Vienna city center (16 mins) and then any direct train to Brno (1.5 hrs).
• Prague Airport (PRG) is the alternative. Get to Brno by a wide variety of comfortable trains from Prague train station (2.5 hrs + 45 transfer from the airport to the train station).
• Bratislava Airport (BTS) is RyanAir hub, so it might be useful when hunting cheap flight tickets within Europe.

Trains

Direct trains to Brno are available from Hamburg (10 hours), Berlin (7.5 hours), Bratislava (1.5 hours), Budapest (4 hours), Dresden (5.5 hours), Prague (2.5 hours), Vienna (1.5 hours), and many more. Trains from Warsaw require only one change (Břeclav or Bohumín). The train station in Brno is called Brno - hlavní nádraží.

Getting around Brno with public transport is easy with trams, city buses, and trolleybuses. Buses operate 24 hours a day, and at night, there are special night buses available. To access transport schedules and GPS location of vehicles, you can try the DPMBinfo application (also available in English).

Beep & Go: Easy Way of Paying for Public Transport in Brno. Simply tap your credit card against the yellow reader every time you board a vehicle, even if you are only transferring. Visa and MasterCard are supported by contactless payment. Terminals also accept payments made with smartphones or smartwatches using ApplePay or GooglePay. If your journey takes less than 15 minutes, don’t forget to check out (by beeping again). You will be charged a short quarter-hour ticket.

The basic fare is 25 Kč (about 1 Euro) for a 60-minutes ticket. If your journey is under 15 minutes, you must check out and the system will charge you only CZK 20 (for a basic 15 minutes ticket). After travelling multiple times during one day, the system will charge you the optimal fare for all journeys, but never more than the value of a 24-hour ticket for CZK 90 (less than 4 Euro).

The conference venue (Faculty of Social Studies) is next to Komenského náměstí stop, which is served by tram no.4, or close to the Česká stop served by trams no. 5, 6, 3, 9, 12 and 4.
